A Balloon Unicorn (very similar to a balloon horse)

Almost forgot. I made a balloon unicorn a few days ago. Just want to know if it looks all right to you.
It can be one of the balloon animals/ figures that I put on the Christmas tree :-)

Make a balloon Ninja Turtle (step by step)

Just to let you know, I am making Leonardo as my boy insisted. Also, he said I gave turtle Raphael (red mask one) the wrong weapon last time, so I had to make the weapon right for Leonardo which is twin katana swords. Well, since I had no slight idea what that was, he showed me his Ninja Turtle book with pictures to prove his professionalism in Ninja Turtle.
Ok, here we are. Let’s twist a balloon Ninja Turtle, be more specific - Leonardo!

A 260q Goldenrod for the chest, half way inflated

1. Make a small pinch twist followed by a sausage twist.
One more pinch twist, again followed by a sausage twist.
Lock two pinches together..
A 260q Mocha Brown ¾ inflated for turtle’s shell
1. Two sausages, a pinch goes to the end of the second sausage twist. The size of the sausage twists are better to be a bit longer than the chest.
2. Pull the brown sausages through the gold sausage twists.
3. The ends of the four twists will look like picture 3.
4. Another sausage at the same size of other browns.

1. Twist the third sausage onto the end.
2. A pinch twist to secure them.
3. Grab two gold sausages make a twist to create a look of chest.

Lock all three pinch twists together. Now we have turtle’s chest and shell.

A 260q Winter green balloon for leo’s head and one arm
1. A pinch twist followed by a small petal twist.

A 260q Pale blue for the mask. I should have used 160q balloon, it would look nicer as the mask doesn’t need to be so big. But I ran out of blue in 160q.
1. Inflate about 10 inches. Wrap it on the green petal twist to measure the size.
2. Make a bubble and a pinch twist at each end of the blue.
3. Wrap it on the green petal, and lock it by twisting two pinches.

1. One small bubble on the green, and pinch twist again. I would suggest you make this pinch slightly bigger.
2. Now a quite big petal twist. Please make sure it is bigger than turtle’s mask you just made.
3. Adjust the balloon, push the pinch twist into the middle of the petal twist.

This is how it will look like.

1. Attach the chest and shell part to the head. Make sure they are tight and secure.
2. Two sausages with a pinch twist in between to get an arm shape.
3. Two small pinches with the end as his thumb. I now finished the green balloon.
4. You will need the second green 260q balloon for another arm. I still can’t think of an alternative to save this balloon, if I want to get turtle’s proportion right.

One more 260q Wintergreen
1. Inflate it; leave 2-3 inches at the end.
2. A pinch twist followed by a petal twist as the foot.
3. Push the balloon through the gap between chest and shell, until you feel it’s the right size for the legs and feet. Use the same way to make another foot and cut the rest. We are almost done!

1. Two Grey 260q balloons to make Twin Katana Swords
Inflate little air that enough to make two or three pinch twists.
2. Two or three pinch twists in the middle of the balloon and cut.

3. I made four extra parts with pinch twists in brown as Leo’s knee and elbow protections, only because my boy wanted the balloon Ninja looks exactly like the picture shows on his book.

All done!!!
No more turtles for a while I guess. I am waiting for the new balloons I have ordered. Should be arriving in a couple of days. Thinking about making a detailed Spiderman mask or a Batman… please let me know if you have an opinion.

Have a nice day!

Balloon Turtle (Ninja Turtle)

I made this balloon ninja turtle yesterday. Don't know who would actually like it, except my son :p
It is not too hard to figure out how to twist it; maybe only the head part is a bit tricky. I will show you the "step by step" if you request.

Another Balloon Mermaid Easier Version

Just made an easier balloon mermaid.
I am very interested in making balloon characters. I will try more later and post it here.
If you have a special character that you would like to challenge me, I would be happy to try :-)

My First Attempt Balloon Mermaid

  • A 160 to make mermaid’s hair. You can choose any colour you like.
  • Make ten small bubbles. A sausage twist followed by two small pinch twists.

  • Attach the pinch twists to the middle of ten bubbles.
  • Inflate a skin colour 260 balloon half way. Make a small sausage twist as mermaid’s face.
    Tie the knot on the pinch twists;
  • Gently push the big bubble through two orange sausage twists.
  • Shape the rest of 160 orange hair in to the style you like.
  • A pinch twist below the face to hold the head straight.
  • Three small bubbles follow; The first one is slightly bigger. Pinch twist two smalls; Another bubble (no matter the size); make again two small bubbles turn them into pinch twists; then the slightly bigger one.
  • Attach all seven bubbles to the pinch twist under the face. It should look like this.
  • Use anything sharp to pup the middle bubble; now this is the look.
  • Make two same sized sausage twists by 160 balloon for the mermaid’s gloves. Two pinch twists at the end to make her hands. Connect them onto the upper arms.

I know there are easier ways to make mermaid’s arms, but I simply can’t accept a mermaid has arms as thicker as her body. They suppose to have nice figure, aren’t they?

  • Split a sausage twist into two small bubbles and tie it on mermaid’s body.

These are the steps were taken before I actually messed it up.

  • One 160 blue and one 260 green were planned to be the tail.
  • Made two small petal twists attached with the green pinch twist, which later would be sat at the back of mermaid.

Ideally the green would go on like this till the end of tail. Did not quite work, it popped when I finished her bottom…

  • I wrapped the blue 160 around mermaid’s tummy, twisted at the front, then same way back. The green 260 went under the body; tied knot of the body onto the green one. Since this part will be all covered later, so no one would see the knot.

Then I made a lot of bubbles and pinch twists, until it looked like this.

Most balloon mermaids’ tails are bit dull in my opinion. I decided to create something different. That is when I started twisting, undoing, again and again; and two or three bursts...

Did not know how long it took, eventually… this came out.

I am quite happy about my mermaid. But definitely not suitable for selling; Don't think anyone would wait for that long :-D
